We had a great occasion sa Cheathrú Rua last week when we opened a new child care facility, comprising a crèche and a naíonra. We are delighted to have this wonderful facility, which had been 15 years in the making. Members of various committees and lobby groups approached various Ministers over the years to look for different pots of money. People in the local area saved money and organised all kinds of collections. That goes to the nub of the issue here. When I spent three years as the chair of the Galway city and county child care committee, I visited most of the child care facilities in County Galway. I never came across a child care facility that opened within three years of the facility being sought.
