According to a recent Deloitte report, 85% of chief financial officers agree that ministerial trips abroad are beneficial to the economy. Given the fact that arrangements have been made for St. Patrick's Day, we encourage the Taoiseach, the Tánaiste and the other Cabinet members travelling to the US to raise the issue of the undocumented Irish. I have raised the issue previously and am encouraged by the willingness of some US senators to tackle it. A number of people have contacted me about family members who are abroad and cannot return home for funerals, weddings and so on. It would be great to be able to sort this problem out for some of them.
