I thank the Minister and his officials for bringing the Bill before the House. I welcome the time afforded to the legislation and the many discussions we have had on it. I also thank my fellow Senators for their excellent contributions. As with Senator D'Arcy, I am pleased the Bill provides for greater powers of oversight for the Teaching Council and introduces compulsory professional development for teachers.
