They were refused at gunpoint by a rogue state, which is how I describe Israel. Those involved have prevented Irish citizens from coming back to this country. There is a need for the Tánaiste to get involved at this stage. I commend the work of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Irish consular services. They have provided outstanding support to these 14 citizens but it is time for the Tánaiste to intervene directly and to contact his counterpart in Israel to ensure these 14 Irish citizens are returned home as quickly as possible. Their captivity should come to an end.
