Army Barracks Closures: Motion
12:00 pm
Paul Kehoe (Wexford, Fine Gael)
I apologise on behalf of the Minister for Defence who is unable to be present but he has addressed the issue on a number of occasions, including in the Lower House a few weeks ago. I am aware that he will meet Senator Landy and others and he is giving his time generously to meet delegations from the areas that people think are affected. I assure the House that no decision has been made on this issue.
When I read the motion, I could not help but reflect that the resilience of Fianna Fáil is a wonder to behold. The party's historic defeat in the recent general election would have caused lesser mortals to pause and reflect. Its members still trudge blindly down the well worn path of trying to be all things to all men and that is what has them where they are today.
