We say the office is above politics, yet it is completely reliant on political parties or groups thereof nominating a candidate. This is not right and it is time the process was changed. We should also have the option to allow an agreed number of people nominate a candidate. I ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to examine this option.
