Geraldine Feeney (Fianna Fail)

Like Senators Prendergast and O'Malley, I congratulate those who began International Women's Day 100 years ago. I wish continued success to the bodies in this country associated with it. It is a very special day and in a Chamber such as this, we think of women in a way that we may not think of them outside. We all know that women are under-represented in politics. As others have done, I congratulate Senator Prendergast and wish her well. She was very modest and she could not mention it herself but she is on her way to Europe to be an MEP for Munster. Her departure from this House will lead her on to something very exciting and important.
