National Recovery Plan 2011-2014: Statements
7:00 pm
Fidelma Healy Eames (Fine Gael)
The people expect fairness. I welcome the broadening of the tax base because I believe it is important that everyone contributes, even if it is only €5 a week. I am concerned, however, that this plan will force the youth of our country to choose between education and financial hardship or welfare. I do not believe welfare is the future for anyone. I am concerned that this plan also asks those on the front line in our health system to do the impossible, which is downright dangerous.
