Sexual Offences
12:00 pm
Jerry Buttimer (Fine Gael)
It is vital that the Minister for Justice and Law Reform take steps to protect people with an intellectual disability. I hope he will introduce modern capacity legislation which, as Inclusion Ireland notes, concerns all decisions taken by people deemed not to have the capacity to make a decision. While I accept the Minister of State's point that this is a sensitive issue, we have a duty not to criminalise people with an intellectual disability by failing to legislate in this area.
