I see our economy and our borrowing requirements are once again the lead story in the Financial Times today. It is worth noting, in view of what the Taoiseach said yesterday, that it is not the Opposition spokespersons or anyone else who are putting the country on the front page of the Financial Times. That newspaper is simply reporting the facts and the true position which, unfortunately, is bad news. The Taoiseach cannot say, any more than his predecessor, that our problems are due to people talking down the economy. The facts are there and they must be addressed, as others have said.

I ask the Leader to consider organising a debate when we get through all the legislation going through the House at the moment. That joke was lost on him.
