If one is involved in politics long enough, one has a sense of déjÀ vu when one hears what is being said in both Houses of the Oireachtas, but so as not to become too cynical, I try to bring some humour into the situation. Senator Mullen has mentioned the great changes we are supposed to make and how we are supposed to stand up for ourselves. In the short time I have been a Member of this House I have seen a few side deals being made behind me to ensure the Government continues to win votes in the House. We should start a process where we see the Government lose votes behind me rather than across from me.
