When it came to the extension of freedom of information to other agencies, I and the then Minister for Finance, Charlie McCreevy, who is sometimes accused of being the man who curtailed the freedom of information legislation, ensured by order that the office of the Data Protection Commissioner was subject to freedom of information requests.
