I played only a minor part in the passage of this Bill but, listening to the debate, I was impressed by the fact that the Minister considered suggestions from parties other than his own to strengthen the Bill. I also welcomed the opportunity to make my little intervention about the Corrib situation. I was entertained by the Minister of State's attempt to escape early because it seemed he was giving practical expression to the amendments in group 8, which were entitled: "Shortened timeframe for ministerial direction".
