In the context of the Minister of State's reply to my question about the cost of enforcement, I wish to quote an example. In the response to a parliamentary question Deputy Varadkar was told that the revenue accruing from the sale of dog licences in 2007 was €2.9 million, while the cost of delivering the local authority dog control service was €5.4 million.
