In many respects, 2009 can be considered an annus horribilis. I referred to the devastating floods and the report on child abuse. I support colleagues who condemned the rape of that lady in Kerry. It was an outrageous act. I thought I would never see the day when someone who has committed a crime of that nature is defended by a cleric. It is so wrong.
