I have notice from Senator Cecilia Keaveney that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to comment on the importance, in his view, of media studies ensuring students exposed to historical events spun on a 24-hour basis by media channels with their own agendas are helped evaluate what they hear in a critical manner.

I have also received notice from Senator Fidelma Healy Eames of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to advise whether the major capital programme or the devolved scheme is the preferred option for the delivery of the accommodation needs of a school, details supplied, in County Galway.

I have also received notice from Senator Jerry Buttimer of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline her negotiations with pharmacists and to put in place a contingency plan given the reported intention of thousands of pharmacists to withdraw from contracts with the Health Service Executive, which will affect medical card patients and many others using the drug payments scheme.

I have also received notice from Senator Nicky McFadden of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to consider the establishment of microcredit banks similar to the system successfully existing in the developing world as a means of providing credit to the poor in the current economic climate and to counteract the exploitation of people by money lenders.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and have selected the matters raised by Senators Cecilia Keaveney, Fidelma Healy Eames and Jerry Buttimer to be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Nicky McFadden may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
