I have notice from Senator Denis O'Donovan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to advise on the up-to-date position of the sewerage scheme and treatment plant for Castletownbere, County Cork.

I have also received notice from Senator Cecilia Keaveney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to direct the National Roads Authority and county councils to have cats eyes placed on traffic islands in the interest of safety and to pursue at European level the lighting of bicycles given the significant numbers of cyclists who use no personal or bike visibility.

I have also received notice from Senator Paschal Donohoe of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to indicate the measures he will be taking to tackle increasing juvenile crime and the increased availability of guns in Dublin 1 and Dublin 3 in light of the tragic murder last week in East Wall.

I have also received notice from Senator Jerry Buttimer of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social and Family Affairs to clarify the resources she is putting in place to clear the backlog of social welfare payments in Cork city and county.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Denis O'Donovan, Cecilia Keaveney and Paschal Donohoe and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Jerry Buttimer may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
