I do not want to be repetitive on this issue, which I raised yesterday on Second Stage. Like other Senators I feel the provision is unfair, particularly on local authority members. I do not believe Oireachtas Members or Members of the European Parliament should have an entitlement or an expectation to be on boards or authorities. As the Minister outlined yesterday, it is recognised that there is a conflict of interest, particularly when the annual report is laid before the Houses and is addressed at committees.
