Many Senators have referred to last Friday's sitting of the House. It is not ideal for the Houses of the Oireachtas to sit on the same day as a major court case. The courts and the Oireachtas are separate and we should not be seen to compete with each other. Thankfully, last Friday's court case concerning Mr. A went the way everyone hoped it would. Had it gone wrong, I imagine it would have had implications. We should learn lessons from that and not necessarily sit on days of major court cases.

I am seeking a debate on the Health Service Executive, which was established nearly 18 months ago. It is amazing to think that the chief executive of the HSE recently received a bonus of €34,000. There are over 100 managers earning salaries of over €100,000 each.
