Seanad debates

Mary Henry (Independent)

Earlier this week the Union of Students in Ireland and some other student bodies held an information event in Buswells Hotel for Members of the Oireachtas, which I am sure many Members attended. The students told us that the Minister for Education and Science has brought forward her proposals regarding funding for students in third level education. Will the Leader ask the Minister to come to the House soon after the Easter recess so that Members can contribute on her suggestions before they go to Government? It is an important issue. In many countries third level students graduate with enormous debts and I would not like to think that is the direction we would take. I would be grateful if the Leader could organise a debate.
