At political and departmental level we are committed to the development of breast disease services and this can be seen from the level of funding provided in recent years. Since 2000, additional funding totalling more than €120 million has been made available for the development of breast screening and symptomatic breast disease services. A number of Senators raised concerns and asked for clarification in various areas. Unfortunately, time does not allow me to respond here but if they contact my office we will be happy to clarify the issues raised. I thank the Members for their constructive contributions to a sensitive and important topic.
