I have received notice from Senator Mooney that on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to outline the stages the discussions between his Department and RTE are at on the provision of Irish television services to the Irish community in Britain; and if it is his intention to amend the Broadcasting Authority Acts 1960 to 2001 to permit transmission of RTE outside the Republic of Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Feighan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism to give an update on the submission for a swimming pool in Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon.

I have also received notice from Senator Tuffy of the following matter:

The need to ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to give an update on the application by a person (details supplied) for leave to remain on humanitarian grounds, including her medical condition.

I have also received notice from Senator Bannon of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social and Family Affairs to clarify the position regarding his refusal to grant an orphan's contributory allowance or supplementary welfare allowance to the grandparents of two young children (details supplied).

I have also received notice from Senator Morrissey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to specify the European directive under which vehicle heights may be unilaterally reduced by an EU member state, without consultation, in light of the ongoing public debate about access to the Dublin Port tunnel.

I have also received notice from Senator Browne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to clarify the current position concerning the opening hours of primary schools and access by children to the school building before the formal opening time.

I have also received notice from Senator Kitt of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to clarify the response on the Government's initiative for the disposal of surplus land for Departments and Government agencies in County Galway for affordable housing.

I have also received notice from Senator Coghlan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to outline the steps he intends to take to ensure a workable telephone service for the people of the Black Valley, Beaufort, Killarney, County Kerry.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Mooney, Feighan, Tuffy, Bannon, Morrissey, Browne and Kitt as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and I have selected Senators Mooney, Feighan and Tuffy whose matters will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Bannon, Morrissey, Browne and Kitt may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise. I regret I have to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Coghlan as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter.
