Camillus Glynn (Fianna Fail)
It is past time to hold a debate on pensions with the Minister for Social and Family Affairs. I am speaking particularly about women who worked at home and have no pension entitlements. I raised this matter previously with the then Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, Deputy Dermot Ahern, and am aware that the current Minister, Deputy Brennan, is examining the matter in depth. It relates to yesterday's objectionable editorial in the Irish Independent, where the Government was told that it would give councillors pensions at its peril. Who do the authors of this editorial think they are? It is obvious they have no idea about what councillors do and are completely ignorant of the workload of councillors. If people want proof of what they know, they should read yesterday's edition of the Irish Independent.
