The director of telecommunications regulation, Etain Doyle, has done a very good job in ensuring competition, particularly in the mobile phone market. With the different types of offers that are available in the landline market, such as weekend minutes, night rates, evening rates, looped rates and different times, it is very difficult for the consumer to know what he or she is comparing the offer with. It would be beneficial if there was a comparative register.
