Tom Morrissey (Progressive Democrats)

On 1 June 2003, the Department of Transport indicated it would introduce new regulations regarding safety precautions for motor cyclists. Two years have passed since this indication. I understand a consultative group was established at the time. It made its report but it was never published and seems to have got lost in the sands. I raise this matter because motorcycles represent approximately 2% of all vehicles on our roads, yet they are involved in some 15% of fatalities. Unfortunately, the number of fatalities increases with the onset of summer. It would be opportune if we could have sight of that report and a debate on it. I ask the Leader to try and arrange such a debate.
