The health boards have a contract and they can put whatever conditions they want in the contract.
It seems there is a necessity for the relevant Minister to bring forward legislation on the regulation of charities. We were promised this some time ago. I support the position of Senators Dardis and Minihan on the gardaĆ. It is unreasonable to expect a garda to wait until he is shot before he can respond. These events make an unanswerable case for the establishment of a Garda ombudsman who would move in quickly and provide an important independent judgment on whether this was done properly or not.
