Nursing Home Charges: Statements.
4:00 pm
Frank Feighan (Fine Gael)
It is not a helpful for any member of the Government parties to suggest roadblocks to place in the way of people who are entitled to be reimbursed having been short-changed by the Government for too long.
The Supreme Court decision is a stinging rebuke by the highest court in the land. The meagre offer of a payment of €2,000 to compensate for a gross breach of constitutional rights was wrong. How many medical card holders were forced to go into private nursing homes due to the lack of public nursing beds? Those people could also be eligible for compensation.
