Nursing Home Charges: Statements.

1:00 pm

Fergal Browne (Fine Gael)

In 2003 one health board went to the bother of obtaining an 80-page legal opinion which concluded that the charges were illegal. The most shocking aspect of this sorry saga is that patients in nursing homes and their families who queried their obligation to pay were able to get away with not paying. However, anyone unable to speak up for him or herself continued to pay.

I agree with the Tánaiste in that people who can afford to do so should pay for health care.
