Yesterday morning, many Senators spoke in anticipation of the apology to be offered by the British Prime Minister to the concerned families. I acknowledge the fact that he offered that apology and express appreciation for it. It is the first of many steps the British Prime Minister could take in regard to Ireland. For example, he could agree to participation in a proper public inquiry into the Dublin and Monaghan bombings to bring closure to those unfortunate families. This would be very welcome.

I support Senator Glynn's request for a debate on road safety, particularly in regard to road users other than motorists such as pedestrians, cyclists and joggers. If they were properly clad, it would help motorists who are blamed for everything.
