Health Services: Motion.
4:00 pm
Cyprian Brady (Fianna Fail)
There is a commitment to double the number of consultants but there must be an acceptance among the consultants that change is essential. I recently encountered the case of a mother whose young child had been attending a consultant for six or eight months, at a cost of €120 per visit. This parent was told that it would be two years before an operation could be performed on the child. After utilising the national treatment purchase fund, the child will be admitted to a private hospital in Mullingar next week.
