National Sports Facilities: Statements.
4:00 pm
Brendan Kenneally (Fianna Fail)
The Cathaoirleach does not have to say it, as he has already said so. A few years ago I recall a game of American football in Croke Park and games cannot get more foreign than that. Therefore a precedent has already been set for those type of games being played there. It will be detrimental if an Irish soccer team or an Irish rugby team has to play abroad because no grounds are available in Ireland; that will be a sad day. If the GAA were in a position at that time to provide the facilities and did not, it could be a PR disaster. One wonders why anybody should help the FAI when one sees the mess that organisation is in. Another chief executive has resigned today after 17 months and the previous person did not last too long. It changes its chief executives more often than Fine Gael changes its leader.
