Seanad debates

Sheila Terry (Fine Gael)

I agree, but it is also my entitlement to point out the irony.

Will the Leader ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to allow time to debate the recent SMI report? The report includes details on the closure of some Garda stations but we do not know which stations are due for closure. The only thing we know is that they will not be in Laois or Offaly because the Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Deputy Parlon, told us that. It is important that the Minister would come in here and that we would have a general debate on the deployment of Garda, the delivery of 2,000 extra gardaĆ, the closure of Garda stations and related matters. I would welcome such a debate as soon as possible.
