Criminal Law (Insanity) Bill 2002: Committee Stage (Resumed).

Mary Henry (Independent)

I agree with the Minister on this occasion. However, a section of this exact type was included in the Immigration Act 2004, the Schedule to which refers to "delirium" and "hallucinations" at the port of entry. One would need to shape up and to look pretty normal. If such a provision was included in the Immigration Act, why is it not being included in this legislation? Why is there such inconsistency in the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform? The Minister does not like this type of provision in this Bill, but he liked it in the Immigration Act. I agree that we should not include a list of symptoms and signs in legislation, but we did so in the Immigration Act.
