I call for a debate on HIV and AIDS. As Senator Norris so eloquently pointed out yesterday, last Monday was World AIDS Day, which went relatively unnoticed. Some 40 million people are suffering from this disease and 5 million people became infected in the past year alone. Some 95% of those 5 million came from what are euphemistically called developing countries. Given that we have a very young population with a growing multi-ethnic element, this issue should be discussed as soon as possible.
