The question of upgrading the present permanent accommodation and kitchen facilities at Castlebar barracks to ensure compliance with building, health and safety and fire regulations is being carefully examined at present in the Department of Defence from the value for money perspective. No decisions have been made as yet on the matter, but the Minister for Defence has advised me that he will ensure the matter is dealt with as quickly as possible.
