It was very important that the parameters were correctly set. On the question of the legal indemnity, the Secretary General, Mr. Dennehy, said indemnity had not been invoked, yet the following day he apologised saying it had already been invoked in view of a settlement of €150,000 to €200,000. It will be interesting to see if the findings of the Comptroller and Auditor General will be borne out when the overall cost emerges. The work of the commission will be extended over many years. An examination of the sequence of events will show that matters were not handled correctly. I am pleased the Comptroller and Auditor General had access to information from the Department of Education and Science.
