Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse: Statements (Resumed).

 

This is why the Taoiseach made his comprehensive apology on behalf of the Government and the State to these young people. GardaĆ­, judges, inspectors and departmental officials who regulated and inspected the schools did not have the courage of their convictions to speak out and identify what was happening. People know abuse was taking place in the schools and nobody had the courage to stand up.
