Order of Business.
10:30 am
Frank Feighan (Fine Gael)
I wish to pay tribute to the people from NAMI who came to Dublin last Tuesday and protested outside the gates of Leinster House regarding funding for people with special needs. There is a serious situation in Listowel, County Kerry. Seven pupils of the Nano Nagle school for those with intellectual disability are due to graduate next Tuesday. Three sets of parents are refusing to allow their children graduate because there is nowhere for the children to go following that.
I ask the Leader to invite the Minister for Health and Children or the Minister for Education and Science to come to the House and clarify the position once and for all. Responsibility for these people has been transferred from the Minister for Health and Children to the Minister for Education and Science, but nobody is actually accepting responsibility. It is beyond a joke.
