Seanad debates

Order of Business.
Given that a young man is fighting for his life as a result of a violent attack on the streets of Dublin on Saturday night, have we ever needed extra gardaĆ on the streets more than at present? The escalating crime figures are appalling and the Minister should come before the House today to listen to a debate on this problem, which must be tackled. The Government has failed to tackle it and the Minister has failed to implement any measure to deal with the appalling crime figures. I support the request of Senator Brian Hayes to have a debate on this matter instead of on No 3.
