I move:

That Seanad Éireann approves the exercise by the State of the option, provided by Article 4 of the Fourth Protocol set out in the Treaty of Amsterdam, to notify the President of the Council and the Commission that it wishes to accept the following measure:

a Council Directive on minimum standards for giving temporary protection in the event of a mass influx of displaced persons and on measures promoting a balance of effort between Member States in receiving such persons and bearing the consequences thereof,

a copy of which measure was laid before Seanad Éireann on 16th October, 2001.
