An interesting scenario is that the British have been given a concession to move in to the most profitable oil fields in Iraq. They will secure these on the first drive into Iraq if the war proceeds. Therefore, oil is the fundamental reason for the current moves on Saddam Hussein and Iraq. We must bear in mind that President Saddam Hussein was an ally of the United States of America during the war with Iran. In fact, he initiated the war against Iran and had to finally come to an agreement.
