Our entry into the European Union resulted in a lot of money being pumped into the fishing business with the building of harbours and piers, which it is essential to maintain. We need more funding for this. EU membership has provided the necessary funding to provide quite a number of facilities the length and breadth of our coastline which have helped fishermen enormously. Some ports, such as Rossaveal and Killybegs, are difficult to access because of the condition of the roads, about which something should be done.
