Adjournment Matters. - Insurance Costs.
I understand that in parallel with and complementary to the Minister's insurance reform programme, her Department and the Competition Authority have now decided to undertake a study of the insurance sector aimed at identifying anti-competitive practices or other constraints on competition in the non-life insurance market in Ireland, including those particular to the Irish market. There is no doubt of the Minister's confidence that the measure is capable of delivering real reform or of the Government's determination that consumers should get a better deal.
