I hope the national health strategy, Equality and Fairness – A Health System for You, will live up to its title for the benefit of those most vulnerable in our society and that the annual report on mental hospitals will continue to monitor the situation. When its remit is expanded to include the broader mental health services, under the provisions of the Mental Health Act, 2001, I expect it will provide an invaluable resource for all involved.
