Seanad debates

The hands of gardaĆ are often tied because there is no tolerance of physical force. There was a sergeant in New Ross some years ago who was extremely effective, although it was to the detriment of his health. He often became involved in fracas and, because he was a champion boxer, he sorted them out effectively. I am not advocating a return to that, but our attitude must be balanced.
