The wording of this section is similar to the provision in the Dublin Docklands Development Authority Act, 1997. The amendment requested by Senator Ryan would not appear to add anything to the provisions. The Minister would have to bring a statutory instrument forward if there was to be an extension of the boundary and there would be the possibility of Members of the Oireachtas or members of the public asking, under freedom of information legislation, why an extension was being granted.

We are following the model of the docklands Act. A statutory intrument would have to be brought forward.
