I have notice from Senator Bannon that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to make an urgent statement concerning the decision by Cardinal Healthcare to defer its investment in Longford for at least two years as a positive statement is needed to lift commercial life in Longford and give a much needed economic boost to the region.

I have also received notice from Senator Scanlon of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disposal of TB cattle belonging to farmers from County Sligo to a meat plant in the Dublin area which has subsequently gone out of business; and what steps he will take to ensure that the farmers concerned are compensated for their loss.

I have also received notice from Senator Leyden of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to address the current crisis in the beef industry and to direct the Competition Authority to carry out a re-investigation into the alleged anti-competitive pricing structure within the beef processing industry.

I have also received notice from Senator Terry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism to make a statement concerning the failure in his Department to properly fund Morton Stadium, Santry, and the reason his Department has reneged on a payment of €79,000 per year to the stadium since 1998.
