Brian Leddin: I thank the Minister for his comprehensive reply. There is much talk of national plans. Deputy Bruton mentioned the national economic plan with regard to the offshore wind opportunity. Does the Minister want to address whether it would be weaved into that?

Select Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment: Renewable Energy Directive: Motions (15 Dec 2020)

Brian Leddin: I thank the Minister. If I may, I will ask some questions. First, on the cost in terms of what we are paying to Denmark and Estonia, it is €50 million. At the start of the year the estimate was €110 million. Why is the figure less than the estimate? Is it Covid-19 related? Is it accelerated progress in the roll-out of renewable energy across the three sectors? The...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Engagement with Chairperson Designate of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (9 Feb 2021)

Brian Leddin: I will ask a couple of questions. Deputy O'Rourke rightly pointed out the issue of targeting particular socioeconomic areas and the people in greatest need. Allied to that, there is an issue relating to targeting areas of poor air quality. In a significant number of areas in Ireland, air quality is adversely impacting the health of the people. I believe 470,000 people in Ireland are...
