Order of Business (28 Jan 2014)

Enda Kenny: The Minister for Finance has made his views known on the way that NAMA is now performing, and the changes that have been brought about. It is not listed for any other legislative proposal. He is happy with the way it is moving.

Order of Business (28 Jan 2014)

Enda Kenny: ...raised this before, as did other Deputies. I have called on one of the Cabinet subcommittees dealing with this to put together a group that can concentrate on how we might deal with the issue of NAMA land banks, planning permissions that are issued and that are pending, and so on. The construction sector has a responsibility here as well. We can have a debate on this in the House before...

Order of Business (18 Dec 2013)

Enda Kenny: The Public Accounts Committee has been in contact with NAMA and NAMA is willing and wishes to engage with that committee, which is important. This legislation has gone through the Seanad and is awaiting Second Stage, which will be taken early in the next session. The Whips will make arrangements for that.

Leaders' Questions (18 Dec 2013)

Enda Kenny: To be honest, I do not know the information that was released. I do not have access to it. I do not have any contact with NAMA.

Leaders' Questions (18 Dec 2013)

Enda Kenny: If a Topical Issue debate is requested of the Minister for Finance, he may have more information to give than I have. I do not have contact with NAMA, obviously.

Leaders' Questions (18 Dec 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...are concerned. The same applies to appeals. The Minister for Justice and Equality confirmed that he was advised by the Garda Commissioner this morning that there had been contact between NAMA and the Garda Síochána earlier this year in regard to another former employee. That investigation is ongoing and will conclude whenever it concludes. More recently, in August of this...

Leaders' Questions (18 Dec 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...on it. I confirmed that the Garda was investigating a complaint in respect of an individual and that allegations had been made in regard to a second individual. The Garda has not come back to NAMA about that issue. This morning the Minister for Justice and Equality was advised by the Garda Commissioner that - I think people know this - there had been contact between NAMA and the Garda...

Ceisteanna - Questions (Resumed): Social Partnership Meetings (17 Dec 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...is an issue. Many construction jobs for ordinary workers could be generated were that to be put in place. The Minister of State, Deputy Jan O'Sullivan is working on this in terms of social housing. NAMA was to make 4,000 units available, which has not been concluded yet. There is a program and a commitment to see if we can deal with homelessness effectively and end it. It is a very...

Leaders' Questions (17 Dec 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...takes the matter very seriously. Two cases arise; one formal investigation by the Garda is nearing completion and I expect it will come to a conclusion. The second arises from a recent contact. NAMA has not been formally contacted by the Garda arising from those allegations. Deputy Donnelly made a point about people perhaps not following through on an initial interest in a property or...

Leaders' Questions (17 Dec 2013)

Enda Kenny: The Government is taking this matter very seriously and the point raised is one of concern and substance. I note the statement yesterday from NAMA. It states:The Senator's comments in the Seanad this afternoon suggest that he has evidence of impropriety involving staff members of NAMA. He has not shared any such evidence with NAMA. Nor has NAMA received such evidence from any other party....

Leaders' Questions (27 Nov 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...McDonald has not referred to at all. The Government is revising a public housing policy for the first time in a number of years. It is a requirement and a focus of the Government to work with NAMA, which has units available to it, on all these sources to make these available.

Ceisteanna - Questions (Resumed): Cabinet Committee Meetings (22 Oct 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...by three more qualifying courses. The Deputy is aware of the increased interest in that. I have referred to the home renovation incentive and the €200 million injection in capital programmes for that. NAMA is also willing to make €2 billion available in vendor capital to purchasers of commercial properties in Ireland. It has lent €375 million across six major...

Enda Kenny: -----to discuss the question of speeding up transfers from NAMA for social housing.

Leaders' Questions (2 Oct 2013)

Enda Kenny: I thank the Deputy for his comments and questions. Clearly, there is an increase in the number of applicants for adequate and proper housing, many of whom are on local authority lists. NAMA has offered 4,000 houses, of which, I think, 2,000 have been taken up by local authorities.

Leaders' Questions (2 Oct 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...frustration and concern for many. I met the Construction Industry Federation the other day and I am aware that there are quite a number of good contractors and developers who have never been in NAMA and are not in the league of those deemed to be rogue builders or cowboys. The people concerned want to see a construction centre that has integrity, can be trusted and will measure up. This...

Ceisteanna - Questions (Resumed): Financial Services Sector (1 Oct 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...will not get away with it in Ireland. I met with representatives of the Construction Industry Federation the other day. There are some very good contractors and builders who were never in NAMA and who want to be trusted to build what they say they will build, so that those who buy, either in the commercial or residential sectors, can be happy in the knowledge that they are getting a safe...

Order of Business (25 Sep 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...might be improved and how we might get best effect from the money that is being spent. The issue is clearly one that must be reflected upon in the budget. I understand the Minister is to meet with NAMA today in respect of the potential for acquiring units of housing to help in this matter.

Order of Business (8 May 2013)

Enda Kenny: ...which one would like to refer people as the last headquarters of those who left the GPO by the side door in 1916. It is a complex matter involving developers, Dublin City Council, the Minister and NAMA etc. I have asked the Minister to prepare a memo for Government because we must make a decision. The Minister can intervene in law, but any intervention should take into account what we...
