Imelda Munster: That goes without saying. That is pretty obvious, and particularly over a long period of time. The fact is that it was not done. I know it was emergency-----

Road Safety: Statements (17 Apr 2024)

Imelda Munster: ...have died on our roads this year. These are 63 families left to grieve and lives ruined by loss, not to mention those who suffer serious injuries, sometimes life-changing. There are also life-long psychological impacts from road traffic accidents. Three of those who lost their lives were from County Louth and their families have been left absolutely devastated. In the same period...

Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Support for Development of Regional Film and Television Production: Discussion (20 Mar 2024)

Imelda Munster: ...any additional requirements for international studios? We are talking big sums here. It could be up to €40 million if the EU accepts the increase to €125 million. There also seems to be no long-term investment for such major tax breaks. Could we have comments from the Departments on those two questions, please?

Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Support for Development of Regional Film and Television Production: Discussion (20 Mar 2024)

Imelda Munster: What about long-term investments? There is not a great deal to show for such large tax breaks.

Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Support for Development of Regional Film and Television Production: Discussion (20 Mar 2024)

Imelda Munster: Yes, those are benefits of what we have seen of late. However, I am talking about bang for buck, if you like, from a taxpayer point of view about the long-term investment. The other question was on TG4’s proposal for the Gaeltacht, the map and the benefits of that.

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2022
Vote 38 - Health
Report on the Accounts of the Public Services 2022
Chapter 18 - Health Service Executive Funding and Financial Reporting
(1 Feb 2024)

Imelda Munster: How long does it take to process applications? I have heard that it takes forever in the HSE between the time somebody applies for a job and when they are offered the post. Earlier, there was reference to posts that were approved last year coming on stream. From the time a person applies for a job, how long is it before they are offered that job and start working?

Public Accounts Committee: Appropriation Accounts 2022
Vote 38 - Health
Report on the Accounts of the Public Services 2022
Chapter 18 - Health Service Executive Funding and Financial Reporting
(1 Feb 2024)

Imelda Munster: That is exceptionally long too. If a person goes for a job in any other sector they ask how much notice must the interviewee give. If the person says it is two weeks they say "Oh brilliant, start then in a fortnight".

Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Football Association of Ireland's Facility Investment Vision and Strategy, and Governance Issues: Discussion (13 Dec 2023)

Imelda Munster: ...down the list of recommendations to be implemented, we would imagine they would have been getting their t's crossed and i’s dotted after the financial saga the last time, but this was put on the long finger. How concerned is Sport Ireland at this stage? I know it said the FAI has put a lot of things into practice. I just do not get the vibe that many lessons have been learned. I...

Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Online Safety, Online Disinformation and Media Literacy: Discussion (6 Dec 2023)

Imelda Munster: ...regarding online coverage, disinformation, the riots and the threats of violence. Coimisiún na Meán had also contacted companies similarly. What is the immediate procedure now? I do not want a long drawn-out answer. In layman's terms, what do companies do when they get those reports? What is done instantly? I will start with Meta and work down the list.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (24 Oct 2023)

Imelda Munster: ...no interest. With the bridge closed and traffic diverted into Drogheda until at least the middle of next year, congestion levels are unbelievable. The rush hour traffic congestion lasts all day long. A ten-minute journey takes an hour. Businesses are seriously suffering. Given that the Minister, Deputy Ryan, appears to have no interest whatsoever, will someone in government please get...
